What's New on Open Nvite — March 2026 Update
Since we opened up early access a few weeks ago, the feedback from our testers has been incredibly helpful. You've been finding things that needed fixing, suggesting improvements, and helping us shape what Open Nvite becomes. This post is a thank-you — and a rundown of everything we've shipped based on what you told us.
Here's what's new.
Open to Everyone
The biggest change: Open Nvite is now open to the public. No invite code required. If you've been waiting to share the app with a friend, now's the time. Anyone can create an account and start discovering moments near them.
Cleaner Moment Categories
Several of you pointed out that the old activity list was too specific and a little random. Chess and walks and picnics and "other" — it didn't hang together well.
We replaced it with 9 broader categories that cover every type of moment without making you scroll through a long list:
🏋️ Fitness — runs, gym sessions, pick-up sports, cycling
🧘 Wellness — yoga, meditation, breathwork, sound baths
🍽️ Food & Drinks — dining, coffee, happy hour, cooking together
🎭 Culture — music, art, theater, film, concerts, museums
🎲 Games — board games, trivia, chess, card games, video games
🌿 Outdoors — hikes, camping, beach days, stargazing
🎉 Social — hangouts, parties, neighborhood mixers
📚 Learning — workshops, book clubs, skill-sharing, classes
🏆 Fandom — watching sports together, pop culture meetups, fan events
Each category now has its own icon and you can filter by category on the Discover page. Not sure what falls under a category? There's a small ? button next to the category selector that explains each one.
Indoor / Outdoor Indicator
A few people mentioned they showed up to a moment underdressed because they didn't know it was outside. Fair point.
When creating a moment, hosts can now mark it as Indoor or Outdoor. That tag shows up on the moment detail page so you can dress accordingly — or decide if a rainy day moment is worth it.
Discover Page Fixes
We fixed two location-related bugs that a few of you flagged:
Out-of-area events in Upcoming: Some users in Georgia were seeing events from Baltimore in the Upcoming section. The Upcoming carousel wasn't applying the same distance filter as the rest of the page. It does now — you'll only see upcoming moments within your selected range.
Businesses tab ignoring your location: If you searched by zip code on the People tab and then switched to the Businesses tab, the businesses were showing from your real location instead of the one you searched. Both tabs now stay in sync — change the location once and it applies everywhere.
Business Profiles & Directory
This is a big one. Over the past two weeks we built out the full business side of the platform:
Business public profiles — every business on Open Nvite now has a public page with their logo, cover photo, description, upcoming moments, and a way to share or report the profile.
Businesses directory — there's now a dedicated Businesses section on Discover where you can browse businesses hosting moments near you, filtered to within 15 miles.
Business host badge — when a moment is hosted by a business, their logo now shows correctly on the moment detail page instead of showing initials.
Business profiles now have navigation — a header and bottom navigation were missing from business public pages. Fixed.
Account & Login Improvements
A handful of small but meaningful quality-of-life fixes:
Show/hide password on login — tap the eye icon on the password field to see what you're typing. Especially helpful on mobile.
Your email is now visible on your profile — go to Edit Profile to see the email address your account is registered under. It's read-only (email changes happen through account settings), but it's good to know it's there.
Better error messages at login — instead of raw error codes, you'll now see plain-language messages if something goes wrong, like "Please confirm your email before signing in" or "Incorrect email or password."
Confirmation email redesign — the email you receive when you first sign up has been redesigned to match Open Nvite's look and feel, with a short intro to what the platform is all about.
Share Button on Moments
The Share button on moment detail pages wasn't working for some users. It's fixed. On supported browsers it opens the native share sheet; on others it copies the link to your clipboard automatically.
What's Next
We're continuing to move fast. The iOS app is in progress, and we have more improvements planned based on your feedback. If something feels off or you have an idea, use the Feedback button inside the app — we read every submission.
Thanks for helping us build this.
